APAC Effie Awards welcomes Grey on board jury panelFebruary 15th, 2016
This year’s APAC Effie Awards sees three Grey personnel on the jury panel!
We have Dheeraj Sinha, Chief Strategy Officer, Grey Group South and Southeast Asia; Irene Wong, CEO, Grey Group Malaysia and Ali Shabaz, Chief Creative Officer, Grey Group Southeast Asia.
About Dheeraj Sinha
Dheeraj leads the strategic planning function for Grey (WPP Group) in India, South & South East Asia. Previously, he led planning for Bates (WPP Group) in Asia, across thirteen countries. He has worked in advertising for over 16 years across McCann Erickson, Euro RSCG, Bates and now Grey.
Dheeraj is the author of two books on India and its consumer market. His latest release is India Reloaded – Inside the Resurgent Indian Consumer Market published by Westland in India and Palgrave, internationally. His previous book, ‘Consumer India – Inside the Indian Mind and Wallet’, published globally by John Wiley & Sons, is a recommended read at Wharton Business School’s course on emerging markets.
Dheeraj has spoken at the Harvard India Conference, Boston, Cannes Lions festival of advertising, CII Marketing forum, Asian Marketing Effectiveness Festival and Esomar Asia Pacific Conferences amongst several other platforms.
Dheeraj was amongst the top 40 advertising and marketing professionals in Asia Pacific in Campaign Asia’s top 40 under 40 list for 2014. Dheeraj is a three times winner of the prestigious Atticus Awards (WPP’s award for best published thinking). He has won several effectiveness awards, including the Jay Chiat Planning Award by the 4A’s, the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Award and the Yahoo Big Idea Chair. He has been a winner at EFFIES in India, five years in a row and has won at APAC EFFIES since the last two years of the award’s existence.
About Irene Wong
Irene joined Grey in 2004 as Group Account Director on the Maybank business and quickly expanded her portfolio when she won multiple new businesses such as Resorts World Genting, KidZania, Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park and Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad.
She was one of the key players in integrating the above-the-line, digital, activation and public relations units at Grey Group Malaysia, making the agency a trailblazer for integration across the Grey Group APAC network.
Irene was promoted to Chief Executive Officer for Grey Group Malaysia in 2013. She continues to drive the business and brought in 2 news clients into the agency, Telekom P1 and KL Sea Games 2017.
In the 25 years of being in the communication industry, she has worked on both local and multinational brands including P&G, Perodua, Panasonic, Energizer, Unilever and Johnson & Johnson.
About Ali Shabaz
A multi-award winning creative, Ali has won at local and international award shows including Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (Cannes Lions), Effies, AMES, Design and Art Direction (D&AD), The One Show, CLIO Awards, Spikes Asia and The Global Awards.
Recently, the prestigious Lions Innovation award and the highly-coveted Product Design award for the Life Saving Dot work won at the Cannes Lions – a first for an agency in Singapore. This recognition along with the seven Lions placed Grey Group Singapore as the best performing agency in Singapore at the 2015 Cannes Lions.
His strategic creative direction across digital and traditional platforms, saw Grey Group Singapore recognised as the best performing agency, two years in a row at Spikes Asia 2014 and 2015, with big pop-culture ideas such as ‘The Visual Dictionary’ for theBritish Council and ‘Help Find Me’ for the Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN). Grey Group Singapore was also named Agency of the Year and Digital Agency of the Year at the Gong Show 2015.
In addition to his accolades, he was honoured as “Advertising Professional of the Year” by the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS) and has been voted numerous times as one of the “Most Influential Creative Directors” in Singapore by the IAS.
A highly-recognised and respected creative, Ali has judged at Cannes Lions, AdFest, Spikes Asia, The Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame and the Kancil Awards. He has also been invited as a guest speaker for Spikes Asia, 4As and D&AD
