Dheeraj Sinha on AdAge’s Ad People of the Year listJanuary 7th, 2016
AdAge has nominated Dheeraj Sinha, Chief Strategy Officer of Grey Group South and Southeast Asia, onto their “#Recap2015: Ad People of the Year” list.
Dheeraj leads the strategic planning function for Grey (WPP Group) in India, South & South East Asia. Previously, he led planning for Bates (WPP Group) in Asia across 13 countries. A veteran, he has worked in advertising for over 15 years across McCann Erickson, Euro RSCG, Bates and now Grey.
Dheeraj is the author of a highly acclaimed book ‘Consumer India – Inside the Indian Mind and Wallet’, published globally by John Wiley & Sons, Singapore. The book is a recommended read at the Wharton School’s course on marketing in emerging economies. He has also authored a chapter in the second edition of ‘Shopper Marketing’ published by Kogan Page, USA and another chapter in ‘The Luxury Market in India: Maharajas to Masses’ published by Palgrave Macmillan. His paper, ‘The Changing Mindset of a Billion Minds’, has referenced in Frommer’s Guide to India.
Dheeraj has worked on brands and businesses across markets and categories including Ashok Leyland, Cavinkare, Colgate, Dabur, DBS Bank, Emirates, Fiat, LG, MasterCard, Marico, Max Bupa, Maxis, Park Avenue, Reckitt Benckiser, Reliance Mobile, Sensodyne, Tata AIA, and Virgin Mobile.
He is a three times winner of the prestigious Atticus Awards (WPP’s award for best published thinking) and has won several effectiveness awards, including the Jay Chiat Planning Award by the 4A’s, the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Award and the Yahoo! Big Idea Chair. He has been a winner at APAC EFFIE Awards and has won at EFFIE India, five years in a row. Dheeraj was amongst the top 40 advertising and marketing professionals in Asia Pacific in Campaign Asia’s top 40 under 40 list for 2014.
Dheeraj has spoken at the Esomar Asia Pacific Conferences three years in a row and has been on their program committee. He was also invited to speak at the Harvard India Conference 2012 at Harvard Business School, Boston. He has been on the jury for Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards, APAC Effies and the Global Youth Marketing Forum. He has also been a speaker at the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Festival, the CII Marketing Conference and the Global Youth Marketing Forum, amongst many other forums.
Dheeraj has been featured in various media in India and across Asia including CNBC Asia, China Daily, Bloomberg UTV, Financial Times, Economic Times, Hindustan Times, and Business Standard.
Recently, he has just released his second book, ‘India Reloaded – Inside the Resurgent Indian Consumer Market’, which takes a new look at the myths and contradictions around the Indian Consumer market.
