Teams Bangladesh and Indonesia scoop a Bronze at Ad Stars 2013


Congratulations to the teams at Grey Dhaka and Grey Jakarta for bagging a Bronze each at the recently concluded Ad Stars 2013 held in Busan, South Korea!  Grey Dhaka impressed with its campaign titled “Missing Trees” and Grey Jakarta bagged a Bronze in the Print category for their “Stewardess” print ad.

In a country like Bangladesh, people are still accustomed to reading news from hard copy newspaper, instead of going digital. They prefer the tactile nature of physical papers, and while online newspaper sites have several advantages and offer a more convenient solution to breaking news, they are not as popular as seen from the low visit counts to these sites., together with Grey Group Bangladesh, aimed to encourage people to go digital with their news consumption, thus driving traffic to their online news sites – and at the same time, saving thousands of trees that were being cut each year to produce the printed edition of newspapers. By asking the question “Are you helping someone to cut down one more tree?” the team placed thousands of newspapers in the shape of a tree log in areas where trees used to stand.

We never know other people’s awareness on hygiene, especially when they use public toilets. The team at Grey Group Indonesia uses this insight to develop a print campaign that makes use of arresting visuals conveying a jarring juxtaposition of two people who may be using the same toilet seat. The clever imagery highlights the product benefit which is further reiterated with the tagline “Save yourself from bad ass”.
